UDYAN INDURKAR
Photography has been my passion since I was a young boy. And had visited heritage sites like Verul before. What I lacked was the eye to appreciate what I saw. The carvings and sculptures are the earliest “photographs” captured by man in stone. It is a way of telling a story and capturing it for eternity. Every gesture, every expression, every posture holds a different meaning. The genius who lent me the vision to see this, taught me the science behind the mythology depicted in these sculptures, was someone who did not believe in keeping his findings restricted to a book or thesis. He shared his knowledge with keen ears like mine. I dedicate this exhibition to my mentor, Late Udayan Indurkar, who brought sculptures to life and gave us the ear to hear the stories they whispered.
